Gran Mows the Lawn

Gran decided to mow the lawn. It wasn't her job. It was Grandaddy's job. Except Grandaddy had been procrastinating for a couple of weeks and Gran was fed up. So when Grandaddy went to visit his cousin, Gran headed to the shop to get the lawn mower. Mama saw what was going on. She was not pleased. She told Gran she would mow the law as soon as she finished putting away all the items from her art show over the weekend. Gran was not about to wait. She wanted to get it done before Grandaddy got back home. There was just one slight problem. Gran couldn't figure out how to crank the lawn mower. Little Guy didn't know how to crank it either. He isn't allowed to do that. He went and got Mama. Mama made Gran get off the lawn mower. Mama climbed onto the seat, pulled a knob and turned the key. The engine roared to life. Little Guy ran out of the shop and hid under the truck. Mama waited for Gran to open the gate, then she headed out of the shop and down the bank into ...

Little Guy and Sunshine Unplant the Garden

Little Guy slicked his ears back, dropped his chin and headed toward the house. Sunshine, apparently forgetting about her sore leg, raced past him. Grandaddy was very upset and his anger was directed straight at Little Guy and Sunshine. Little Guy brushed a tear from his eye as he waited for Mama to open the back door. It wasn't his fault. And it wasn't Sunshine's fault either! Grandaddy should have explained it better. Grandaddy was planting the garden. Mama was getting ready for an art show and she didn't have time to help. Gran was busy too. So Little Guy and Sunshine volunteered to help. One planter stopped up and Grandaddy had to plant one row with a hoe. He was not happy. Little Guy and Sunshine heard him talk about digging something up. They thought he meant the row that didn't plant right. That wasn't what he meant. Little Guy and Sunshine were having so much fun. They had decided working in the garden was something they wanted to do on a regular...

Grandaddy Is A Smart Man

Mama was in a tizzy and Little Guy was trying to stay out of the way. Mama has her first art show of the year this weekend and she is never ready. The shop door was opened wide. Drawers were everywhere. Mama says it's easier to paint the drawer fronts when they're sitting on their backside. Little Guy figures Mama knows what she's doing because she's been doing it since before he was born. Little Guy and Sunshine stop by sometimes to visit Mama while she works. Mama is never too busy for hugs and kisses. Sunshine has to be careful though. Her tail is really long and when she swings it sometimes it swats the wet paint. Mama doesn't like that at all. Little Guy tried to convince her to curl her tail up the way he curls his up. She refused. Big sisters never listen to their baby brothers. Grandaddy decided he needed something from the back of the shop. He wove through the drawers and squeezed past Mama, who was perched on a stool painting a vanity. Mama was not p...
